Ray's Whipass - Disgruntled Mix

This is a remix of Ray's song that I put together for zefrank's remix project.

Terminate The Machine

This was my submission for the Machine Singing mission. All sounds in the track originated from five source samples. I built most of the drum sounds in Sound Forge and triggered them in battery 2. I used Linplug's excellent ChronoX 3 for the pulsing percussive bass track and the snare.

I wanted to put together a piece that didn't contain any recognizable material from the source samples. I did include a recognizable vocal sample about halfway through, it fit too well for me to leave it out =).

Coronal Mass Ejection

My track for the solar flare mission.

Noisy Kids

This is my contribution to the Monthly Mission for January: "what will our kids listen to in twenty years that we'll think is just noise?". I used Kiru's Shepard chord demo MIDI file as the basis for the lead. It's played with an arp patch that sounds kind of like a headache. The lead is really the only melodic track in the song. Everything else is either percussion or just... noise.

Virus C, DRM1 MKII, Prophet 600, Sampled drums from LM-7.

Synthetic Female

This is my track for the seventh HC Mission: Robots Are So Damn Awesome. It's sort of an electro-acid meets Gary Neuman on the set of Blade Runner kinda thing. I did most of it in an evening.

Virus C, FR-777, DRM1 MKII, Sampled drums (triggered in Loopazoid), LM-7, Vocal samples from the now defunct synthgirls.com site.

Post Apocalyptic Highway Gremlins

I wrote this track for the third HC/KSS monthly mission. It's a minimal piece I did in a few live takes. It's mostly my new Vermona DRM1 MKII and Future-Retro 777. The synth line is a repeated 777 pattern with live twiddling. There are also samples from a ratchet and my fingers in a ceiling fan.

FR-777, DRM1 MKII, Ratchet and finger abuse samples (triggered in Loopazoid)

Dub Blizzard

This is the track I wrote for the fourth HC/KSS monthly mission. It's a dubby track I put together in a hurry. I think it's sort of a mix between modern ambient dub and traditional dub reggae.

Virus C, DRM1 MKII, Guitar & Wah, K1-m, XL-1, LM7

Fuzz Hat

This is an extended mix of the track I wrote for the second HC/KSS monthly mission. It's probably the most traditional sounding song I've written - there are no synthy sounds at all.

Virus C, Guitar & Wah, Sampled drums (triggered in Loopazoid), TR-727, Lounge Lizard, Jungle Vocals by Owen B.
